Marking exactly 30 months of active research and development, the FUEL-UP project partners recently met in Belval, Luxembourg, for a two-day progress meeting to review 30 months of intensive research activities and strategize for the final year and a half of the project.
Hosted by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and Aristeng, the meeting kicked off with comprehensive, in-depth work package presentations. Project partners took the floor to present key achievements, solve cross-cutting technical challenges, and fine-tune upcoming timelines. To close out a productive first day, the consortium enjoyed a scenic networking dinner at the Schmelz restaurant, located at the base of Belval’s iconic historic blast furnaces.
Technical discussions continued into the second day, culminating in a guided visit to Belval’s famous Blast Furnaces. Situated at the center of a newly revitalized urban quarter—which also houses the modern campus of the University of Luxembourg—the towering structures stand as a monument to the iron ore industry that powered Luxembourg’s economy over a century ago.
